The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA, formerly RCIA) is a process for men and women to become baptized members of the Catholic Church. Candidates are gradually introduced to Catholic beliefs and practices.
The OCIA process at Our Lady of Mount Carmel generally takes two school years. The first year the candidate is introduced to basic Catholic doctrine. The second year the candidate is prepared to receive the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation. The candidate enters into full communion with the Catholic Church during the Easter Vigil celebration.
